Lewis Kemper specializes in nature and wildlife photography using
digital and 4x5 cameras. He has been teaching “Photographer”s
Toolbox for Photoshop” for more than 13 years. Lewis Kemper

After receiving a BA in Fine Art Photography from George
Washington University in 1976, Lewis moved to Yosemite National
Park, where he lived for 11 years. During that time he worked at
the Ansel Adams Gallery. Lewis’ photographs are in many private
collections as well as in the permanent collection of the Baltimore
Museum of Art and Kaiser Permanente. He regularly teaches with
The Palm Beach Photographic Centre, Santa Fe Workshops, Lepp
Institute and BetterPhoto.com. Lewis is currently a contributing
editor to Outdoor Photographer and PC Photo, where his column Outside/Inside appears.
Lewis Kemper Bio
Lewis photographs in color using 35mm and 4 x 5 cameras. He has been named to Canon USA’s elite group of photographers, The Explorers of Light. Canon USA has selected 78 photographers to represent Canon and its photographic products.


Kemper is also working with digital imaging on his Apple computer to create new work. Getty Images, Stock Imagery, DRK Photo, AFLO Japan and Superstock represent his work. Lewis’ images have been sold for editorial and commercial uses in over 16 different countries ranging from national ads to book covers. His Fine Art photographs are in many private collections as well as in the permanent collection of the Baltimore Museum of Art and Kaiser Permanente. Lewis has been shown nationally in galleries and museums. Some of these include: The Cornell Museum, The Frederick S. Wight Gallery, The Baltimore Museum of Art, The Princeton Gallery of Fine Art, The Popular Photography Gallery, The Ansel Adams Gallery, Photographer's Gallery and the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center. He prints his own archival pigment giclées using the finest materials available.

Lewis teaches photography for many organizations including Palm Beach Photographic Centre, Santa Fe Workshops, Lepp Institute and BetterPhoto.com. He sells his Photoshop Training DVDs so that you can learn Photoshop at your own pace. He is the author of The Yosemite Photographer's Handbook, and The Yellowstone Photographer's Handbook. Lewis was the photographer for, Ancient Ancestors of the Southwest, published by Graphic Arts Center Publishing Company. His work has been published in numerous books including publications by The Sierra Club, The National Geographic Society, Little and Brown, APA Insight Guides, Sequoia Communications, Prentice Hall, Hyperion Books, Companion Press, Cachuma Press. His pictures have appeared in calendars published by Audubon, The Sierra Club, The Mono Lake Coalition, Self Realization Foundation, Day Dream Calendars, Avalanche Publishing, Browntrout, The Nature Conservancy, Tide-Mark Press and others. His work has appeared in magazines that include: Backpacker, Women's Sports and Fitness, The Walking Magazine, Sierra, Motorland, Terre Sauvage, Environmental Protection Magazine, National Wildlife, National Geographic Traveler, American Photographer, View Camera, PC Photo, Camera Arts, Shutterbug, and Outdoor Photographer. Currently Lewis is a contributing editor to Outdoor Photographer and PC Photo magazines.
